Cepsa to offset Spanish winter heating oil use
Spanish oil and gas company says reforestation and preservation offsets will be certified by external company
Spanish oil and gas company Cepsa is funding several reforestation and forest preservation projects to offset emissions from heating oil used by its residential customers in Spain this winter. The projects will offset around 55,000t CO₂, equivalent to planting 330,000 trees, and customers are guaranteed to receive offset certificates endorsed by an external company, Cepsa says. The company has not put a figure on the size of the investment, but it says it will not pass the cost of the offsets through to its customers.
