Keadby 3 reaches planning milestone
The power-with-CCS project is the first of its kind to receiving planning permission in the UK
The UK government has granted planning permission to Keadby 3, a 910MW power project with a carbon capture and storage (CCS) element being developed by Nor-way’s Equinor and UK utility SSE Thermal. Equinor and SSE Thermal aim to bring Keadby 3 online by 2027, although FID on the project depends on success in the cluster sequencing process. The project was shortlisted by the government as a potential connection to the East Coast Cluster in August, although the decision to allocate funding to such ‘phase 2’ projects is expected in Q2 2023.
