Trafigura backs DACS with credit purchase pledge
Commodities trader signs up to carbon removal commitment set by First Movers Coalition
Global commodities trader Trafigura has made a new commitment to support emerging carbon removal technologies including direct air capture and storage (DACS), bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (Beccs) and biomass carbon removal and storage (Bicrs). The Singapore-based company has pledged to buy at least 50,000t of “durable and scalable” net carbon dioxide removal credits by the end of 2030. The commitment, which Trafigura says is subject to the availability of the right technology, aligns with the core pledges set out by the First Movers Coalition (FMC), a global initiative set up by the World Economic Forum and the US Department of State to build up markets for clean technologies.
