German energy firms power up UK CCS push
Uniper and RWE advance multiple projects to deploy CCS at new and existing gas-fired power plants
German energy companies Uniper and RWE have accelerated plans to deploy CCS at gas-fired power plants across the UK as they eye the country’s need for flexible generation to operate alongside intermittent renewables. In February, Uniper awarded French technology Technip Energies a contract to provide a process design package for a post-combustion carbon-capture project at its Isle of Grain Combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station on the Isle of Grain near London. The contract covers the process design for the CO₂ capture, conditioning, liquefaction, and temporary storage facility.
