UAE’s Taqa embraces transition with portfolio shake-up

The Emirati utility has committed to a transition strategy that will reduce its reliance on oil and gas for power generation

UAE-based Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (Taqa) has unveiled plans to expand its renewable energy portfolio as it seeks to reduce reliance on hydrocarbons for power generation and “become a champion for low carbon power and water”. By focusing mainly on solar PV, the company has set a target of increasing the share of power it produces from renewable sources from 5pc to more than 30pc by 2030.
