EDPR in €250mn German solar deal
Madrid-based company buys solar developer Kronos to tap accelerating solar growth in Germany
Madrid-headquartered renewable energy firm EDP Renewables (EDPR) has entered the German and Dutch markets with a deal to buy 70pc of Munich-based developer Kronos Solar Projects for €250mn ($256mn). The deal, which is subject to regulatory approval, includes an option for EDPR to buy the remaining 30pc of Kronos from 2028. Kronos has a portfolio of 9.4GW of solar projects at various stages of development, including 4.5GW in Germany and 1.2GW in the Netherlands. It also has 2.7GW under development in France and just under 1GW in the UK, both markets where EDPR already has a presence. Around 0.2GW of the portfolio is ready to build.
