India solar scale-up must include storage
Solar is the best option for India’s transition, but deployment of battery storage is needed to maximise its potential, industry figures tell event in New Delhi
Solar power represents the best option for India to hit its ambitious renewable energy targets for the end of this decade, but it will need to be paired with battery storage to maximise its potential as a round-the-clock energy source, industry figures told a BloombergNEF conference in New Delhi on Wednesday. “There is no doubt as far as India is concerned that solar is the clear-cut winner as of today. Looking forward, I think solar is going to really occupy most of the installations,” said Gurdeep Singh, chairman and managing director of state-owned power utility NTPC. “Solar is definitely going to be a very important source of energy,” added Anil Chalamalasetty, founder and CEO of dispatc
