HPCL-Mittal Energy

Founded in 2007, on the border between the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana—an area that lacks basic healthcare, education and employment infrastructure—HPCL-Mittal is all too aware of the positive impact that corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes can have on local communities. While not the largest CSR program in the sector, HPCL-Mittal has spearheaded a truly unique and innovative ground-level programme, in a region that badly needs economic empowerment. HPCL-Mittal has led the way in the region's hydrocarbon sector. The company developed the first oil and gas project in the state of Punjab—the 9m tonnes per year Guru Gobind Singh refinery at Bathinda—and operates a 1017 km
