LNG Canada receives approval from government
The two projects which will export LNG from Canada – LNG Canada and Pacific Northwest – moved nearer to start-up in June, but there are still some hurdles to clear
LNG Canada, to be based at Kitimat, received the approval of Canada’s environment ministry, conditional on the Shell-led project satisfying dozens of environmental, social and operational requirements.“While today’s announcement is an important step forward for LNG Canada, the project must ensure it is economically viable and meets several other significant milestones related to gas supply, engineering and cost estimates, supply of labour, and regulatory approvals before making a final investment decision,” it said 17 June.
