South Asian importer hopes for price advantage compared with Brent
“In Bangladesh, we import LNG on a Brent index but this [deal] is indexed to Henry Hub, which is a more stable index. I think Bangladesh will benefit as far the prices are concerned.” So says Farid Khan, director of Summit Oil and Shipping Co Ltd (Soscl) as the Bangladeshi firm inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for 1mn t/yr of potential imports from US exporter Commonwealth LNG. “We are trying to put up LNG terminals in Bangladesh,” says Khan.
