China is in the second year of its 14th Five-Year Plan (FYP) period, which runs from 2021 to 2025, and policymakers are attempting to solve the so-called energy trilemma—striking a balance between security, affordability and sustainability—while also laying the groundwork for achieving China’s dual carbon targets.
