NGC Nordpool announce tie-up
The operator of the Nordic electricity trading exchange, Nordpool, has announced an alliance with ESIS, a subsidiary of National Grid Co. of the UK, to develop an on-line, internet-based trading platform. The UK Energy Exchange, backed by Nordpool and the UK's transmission company will also be developed by Altra Energy Technologies of the US. Altra is a leading trading system development company. The exchange is expected to become operational in the third quarter of this year as the UK review of trading arrangements (RETA) is completed and the trading systems are rolled out.
