Norway: New gas-export pipeline gets state backing
Norwegian government supports planned gas-export pipeline
The planned new gas pipeline, due to add Denmark and Sweden to Norway's export markets, is to be backed by the Norwegian state and approval is to be sought for its construction from the ministry of petroleum and energy in April, according to Gassco, the state-owned pipeline operator. The company said the Skanled pipeline project still needed "important clarifications" but could go ahead without the planned separation plant for natural gas liquids in Norway's eastern Grenland area. Last month the government gave its approval for Petoro – the state-owned company that manages the State's Direct Financial Interests (SDFI) in oil and gas – to take a share of up to 30% in the pipeline.
