Cluff eyes UK's first deep offshore UCG project
The company has revealed plans for an offshore underground coal gasification project with 335m tonnes of coal in the licence area
Cluff Natural Resources has unveiled new offshore coal resource estimates in Scotland and outlined plans for the UK's first deep offshore underground coal gasification (UCG) project. The UK-based company said there are around 335 million tonnes of coal in its Kincardine licence area, located in the Firth of Forth near Kincardine. This far exceeds the UK's total coal resources, estimated at 228m tonnes by Cedigaz. Cluff said around 43m tonnes of this coal within the Kincardine licence area is suitable for UCG.
