PE Live Podcast: Why is US LNG and its role in delivering LNG to the world so important?

The role of US LNG in the global market has changed significantly in recent months, and will continue to evolve, owing to the Russian invasion of Ukraine exacerbating Europe’s existing gas challenges. This delivers a fundamental shift in physical flows but also a change in contractual arrangements.

The US's role as a global gas security champion may offer a unique geopolitical opportunity, but it is not universally popular. The other thing mentioned in this episode is the fact that the global attitude to energy has shifted. The energy trilemma, that ability to supply energy that is affordable and secure, and sustainable has jumped to the top of the agenda.

This spin-off episode "Why is US LNG and its role in delivering LNG to the world so important?" is hosted by Peter Ramsay, Editor-in-chief of Petroleum Economist, in deep conversation with David Lang, Partner, Corporate, Finance and Investments, and Wade Coriell, Partner, Trial and Global Disputes/International Arbitration and Litigation, both from King & Spalding.

They'll discuss:

  • What role can and do LNG-to-power projects play on the road to Net Zero?
  • How important has the LNG pricing environment been in developing LNG-to-power projects thus far?
  • What do current price dynamics and competing demand for LNG mean for future developments?
  • What impact can price volatility have on LNG-to-power project financing?

David Lang will moderate the panel "US exports in a radically altered LNG market" at the live event, and Wade’s colleague Elizabeth Silbert will speak on the financial panel then. We are looking forward to seeing you at LNG to Power Forum Americas in Houston on December 8, 2022.
