GE installs first French offshore wind turbine
France’s first commercial offshore wind turbine has been installed at the Saint-Nazaire project
The first offshore wind turbine for a commercial project in France has been installed at the Saint-Nazaire development on the country’s west coast. The project, led by French utility EDF in partnership with Canada’s Enbridge and CPP, will have a total of 80 6MW turbines manufactured by US engineering firm GE. The rest of the turbines will be installed by the end-2022. The turbine nacelles have been assembled locally and the full project involves over 1,200 direct employees in the Pays de la Loire region, according to EDF. “While the first offshore wind turbine in France is now installed, it is actually the entire offshore wind industrial network in France that we must recognize and praise,”
