President wields executive order to accelerate EV uptake, which remains stuck at around 2pc nationally
Using the power of the executive order and flanked by US automakers, President Biden laid out a broad vision last week of a future car market dominated by electric vehicles (EVs). With a target for EVs to reach 50pc of market share by 2030, the president was further backed up by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), which announced it would restart the emissions and efficiency measures rolled back by the Trump administration. The White House asserted this would ultimately curtail about 2bn t of carbon pollution.
