Chevron-operated project injected just 1.65mn t of the 5mn t it produced
Chevron’s Gorgon carbon capture and storage project—the largest of its kind in the world—injected just a third of the CO₂ produced by its gas export plant in the 2021–22 financial year, according to an environmental report from the company released last month. Chevron was licensed to build the $54bn gas export plant on the condition it would “implement all practicable means” to inject at least 80pc of the CO₂ it emitted.
