Capacity will reach 1.8gt/yr of CO₂ by 2043, according to modelling by research agency
Global CCUS capacity will reach 1.8gt/yr of CO₂ by 2043, according to modelling carried out for a new report by research agency IDTechex. The IDTechex model falls on the low side of expected development pathways published by other agencies. Thinktank the Energy Transitions Commission’s (ETC’s) base-case scenario sees CCUS capacity reach 6.9gt/yr by 2050, while the high deployment scenario sees 10.1gt/yr by the same date. Meanwhile, the IEA’s net-zero scenario sees 6.2 gt/yr of capacity by 2050. But while the ETC and IEA scenarios are based on the required capacity to achieve climate goals, the IDTechex scenario is based on a forward projection drawn from current policies and existing deploym
