Spain-based turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy plans to invest $200mn in the first US offshore wind turbine blade factory at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal, Virginia. The move marks the first step towards the creation of a supply chain within the US for the offshore wind sector, which is gaining momentum as the Biden administration focuses on unlocking its potential and catching up with growth in Europe and Asia.
