GE loses right to sell Haliade-X turbines in US
Rival turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa wins injunction based on patent infringement, with exceptions for projects already underway
A judge in the US District Court of Massachusetts has ruled in favour of turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa in its patent dispute against rival GE, placing an injunction on the latter’s flagship 12-14MW Haliade-X turbines in the US. Siemens Gamesa argued in its case that it had already seen losses as a result of the patent infringement, having lost out on the contract to supply turbines to the 800MW Vineyard Wind project off the coast of Massachusetts, and that it would continue to lose future business and market share.
