BP advances 250MW Rotterdam green hydrogen project
Oil major and Dutch developer Hycc target FID in 2023 following positive feasibility study
BP and Dutch hydrogen development company Hycc have agreed to accelerate plans for a 250MW green hydrogen project next to the Port of Rotterdam, following the completion of a feasibility study. The two companies will, over the next 12 months, select a technology supplier, further develop the design of the plant and start the environmental studies for the permitting process. FID on the project, which is called H2-Fifty and is one of Europe’s largest green hydrogen projects to date, is expected in 2023. It will feed BP’s Rotterdam refinery and other industrial consumers in the area. H2-Fifty will have a production capacity of 45,000t/yr and be sited on the Maasvlakte, the man-made port extensi
