Suriname will attract significant attention and investment as an upstream hotspot over the next decade and beyond, according to speakers at the Suriname International Petroleum & Gas Summit and Exhibition 2021. “1.5-6.5bn bl oe is believed to be present in the Suriname side of the Suriname-Guyana basin, and production within ten years could be ramped up to more than 500,000bl/d,” says Patrick Brunings, exploration and subsurface offshore asset manager at Suriname’s state oil company, Staatsolie. “Looking at the geology and where the hydrocarbons are situated, this could be produced at a breakeven price of less than $40/bl.” Multiple offshore discoveries last year and into 2021 are alrea
