Production from Winterfell could start in as little as two years
US independent Kosmos Energy’s Winterfell oil prospect in the Gulf of Mexico could begin production as soon as 2024, the company says. A second appraisal well at Winterfell generated better-than-expected results and has helped the developers to determine the overall size of the resource, estimated at around 100mn bl gross. “The well results are encouraging,” says Kosmos CEO Andrew Inglis. Winterfell is “a low-cost, lower-carbon development scheme that could be brought online in around two years", he adds.
