Pattern Energy completes largest single-phase wind project in US
The 1.05GW Western Spirit Wind will provide power to New Mexico and California
Renewables developer Pattern Energy has announced the completion of its Western Spirit Wind project in New Mexico. At 1.05GW, the project is one of the biggest in the US and the largest to be developed in a single phase. Western Spirit Wind consists of four windfarms across New Mexico’s Guadalupe, Lincoln and Torrance counties. US engineering firm GE supplied 377 turbines ranging from 2.3-2.8MW in size. “Western Spirit Wind is a ground-breaking megaproject that demonstrates large-scale renewables can be developed and built in the US,” says Pattern Energy CEO Mike Garland.
