UK identifies areas for floating offshore wind
Project development areas will be offered to the market via competitive tender in 2023
The UK Crown Estate has identified five areas that could be suitable for the development of floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea. The areas have been selected following technical analysis and engagement with the government and potential developers. A spatial refinement exercise over the coming months will identify smaller project development areas following further technical and engineering studies. These areas will then be offered to the market via a competitive tender in mid-2023, with the goal that they will deliver 4GW of floating offshore wind power by 2035.
