Polish oil refiner and Synthos Green Energy aim to commercialise small modular reactor technology in Poland
Polish oil refiner PKN Orlen and Polish renewables firm Synthos Green Energy have agreed to work together to commercialise small nuclear reactor and microreactor technology. The two companies will focus on the BWRX-300 design by nuclear services alliance GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, which they aim to commercialise in Poland. “Modular reactors would be an attractive addition to the energy portfolio based on renewable energy sources and natural gas,” says Daniel Obajtek, president of the PKN management board. “Accelerated deployment of small nuclear reactors would enable us to better balance our generation asset portfolio and build a low-carbon and innovative energy generation segment.” “M
