Rising Stars
This category recognises women in the early stages of their career, wherever they fit in the hydrogen sector. We encouraged nominations for apprentices and women in the first three years of their career at a given company who have already demonstrated their talent and ambition within hydrogen. Celebrating the women in the hydrogen sector is not related to job title, we recognise that those new to hydrogen, whether new graduates or those coming from other industries, have a vital role to play in the development of hydrogen as a key part of the energy mix and to ensuring a diverse, equal and inclusive future.

Carina joined the Black & Veatch hydrogen business as a young chemical engineer in 2021. Since then, she jumped into the ambiguity in the early hydrogen market and began to build a standard approach, across many feasibility projects, of how Black & Veatch thinks about solving hydrogen’s technical challenges with a strong focus on bankability. She then became a lead process engineer on the leading EPC project, Advanced Clean Energy Storage Hub in Delta, Utah, which is a 220MW of renewable power that is producing 100mt of hydrogen stored in salt caverns. Currently, she has a key role in advancing the technical team into the next phase of the hydrogen economy. |
Corinne joined DESNZ almost 3 years ago and started to work to develop the emerging UK hydrogen economy. She has since led the team that evidenced the need for, designed and is delivering a multi-billion-dollar programme to enable the deployment of low carbon hydrogen projects in the UK. Working through initiatives from extensive industry engagement to driving policy development in Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard, environmental risks, supply chain and jobs risks and opportunities, technologies, and more. She has established a reverse mentorship scheme at the Hydrogen Directorate to further incorporate diversity and inclusion into working behaviour for those in leadership positions. |
Diana has delivered several gigawatts worth of green hydrogen projects. She supported some of the first green hydrogen studies delivered by Wood and was part of one of the company’s first green hydrogen core groups. Diana won the Scottish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association Annual Conference student poster competition and was awarded the George Smith medal for The Best Doctorate Thesis in her year by IDCORE. She has also presented on hydrogen initiatives at Offshore Wind Europe, Tech20 and the House of Commons in Westminster. Still early in her career, Diana became a mentor for undergraduate students in Edinburgh University’s Women in STEM mentoring program. |
Divya has made a significant impact in the hydrogen industry. Sponsored by Eichleay's CEO, she took a year off to become a hydrogen SME, leading to notable achievements including conducting technology evaluations for a major green hydrogen facility; leading technology evaluations for two large-scale green ammonia plants; building relationships with licensors and much more. Divya's dedication and expertise extends to the entire green & blue hydrogen ecosystem, truly a Rising Star. |
Hadia Sheerazi has advanced hydrogen via research and analysis, publications and public speaking as a Rising Star. As manager at RMI since March 2023, she was sole advisor to the New York-led, 7-state Northeast U.S. Clean Hydrogen Hub’s $1.2b application to the DOE, spoke on the role of hydrogen in decarbonising heavy industry at the 2023 World Hydrogen North America conference, and is a lead author of RMI’s new report on “Delivering Equity & Community Benefits via U.S. Clean Hydrogen Hubs” - highlighting best practices and learnings from advising 5 semi-finalist hydrogen hubs. |
Ingrid joined Amogy Norway as a project manager in March 2023 after a successful tenure as technical superintendent at Höegh LNG and has quickly risen to the role of director, project management. With a background rooted in project and operational management, she brings a plethora of expertise to Amogy. She plays a pivotal role in strengthening the bond, ensuring seamless communication and coordination between the US and Norway teams. Her profound maritime knowledge has been instrumental in navigating governmental funding schemes for ship owners, further enhancing Amogy's position in the industry. Ingrid's dedication to promoting gender diversity within STEM reflects her commitment to fostering inclusivity and equal opportunities. |
Andreina (Luisa) is an environmental engineer specialised in energy engineering. In 2024 she was chosen as one of the seven new Energy Leaders of Uruguay through the World Energy Council programme, where she is currently working in areas related to decarbonisation. Currently she is working on her Master’s degree: Identifying the environmental impacts of offshore wind projects in the exclusive economic zones of Uruguay. |
During her placement year at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Mariam's contributions to the National Hydrogen Economy Feasibility Study proved instrumental in laying the groundwork for the initiation of Oman's hydrogen economy. Mariam demonstrated a strong grasp of engineering concepts, backed by keen business and numerical skills, that were vital in assessing the feasibility of various potential hydrogen business cases some of which are currently underway. Mariam was also involved with estimating the GHG emissions of various hydrogen production pathways, the results of which served to direct national hydrogen investment strategies. |
Tahlia Nolan is the hydrogen commercial manager at Iberdrola Australia. She is passionate about hydrogen and has the knowledge and experience to back-up this passion. With a combination of experience in energy market modelling and economics, Tahlia has brought all that experience to focus on hydrogen and what is needed to push the industry forward. Her ability to assess the macro scale needs of the country, technology developments and how to breach the gap between pilot and commercialisation will be critical in pushing the industry in Australia forward. |
