Snam and Tenova join forces on hydrogen steel offering

The two companies will work together over the next three years to design technology offering for industrial customers

Infrastructure operator Snam and technology firm Tenova are cooperating on green hydrogen technology to reduce CO₂ and NOx emissions in steel production. The two companies will work together over the next three years to design a technology offering based on the use of green hydrogen. “We are developing a ready-to-use solution for our customers, directly at their production sites,” says Tenova CEO Roberto Pancaldi. Tenova's combustion systems can blend hydrogen with natural gas up to concentrations of 100pc in the direct reduction process. Hydrogen direct reduction converts pre-heated iron ore into direct reduced iron (DRI) by using hydrogen as a reducing agent and energy source. DRI can then
