Asia gas body urges winter coordination
The demand side will have a greater short-term role than supply in the potentially difficult months ahead
Suppliers will do what they can to aid a looming winter gas crunch, but their short-term levers are limited. Consuming countries must put a full raft of policies in place, including regional cooperation. So says Paul Everingham, CEO of the Asia Natural Gas & Energy Association (Angea), which represents gas producers, shippers, consumers, equipment manufacturers and plant contractors in the Asia-Pacific region. The global LNG market may tighten even further in the northern hemisphere winter. On the supply side, what measures are Angea members taking to help with, for instance, plans to run liquefaction facilities above nameplate capacity or to defer maintenance?
