TotalEnergies targets 2027 startup for Papua LNG
Close collaboration between IOCs in Papua New Guinea means other developments may follow
Production at the Papua LNG export facility will start at the end of 2027, according to operator TotalEnergies. The joint-venture (JV) partners—which aside from TotalEnergies (31.1pc) include ExxonMobil (28.7pc), Australia’s Santos (17.7pc) and the Papuan government (22.5pc)—have launched Feed studies for the project’s upstream production facilities. At the same time, work on the downstream liquefaction infrastructure is “progressing in line with the overall project schedule”, the French major says, adding that the integrated Feed study is due in the fourth quarter.
