Some companies with assets in Israel have turned towards Egypt as tensions escalate, but others are holding firm despite rising tensions
The Eastern Mediterranean’s gas potential continues to attract operators, although some are proceeding more cautiously than others owing to heightened risk in the region amid the conflict in Gaza. Some companies have stepped up activity offshore Israel since the start of the year, while others have focused their attention elsewhere in the East Med, such as Egypt. Increased tensions between Israel and Iran in mid-April could make operators more cautious still, given the possibility of further escalation following a missile exchange between the two countries.
